Kiana Kor'onen is a member of the prestigious Kor'onen family in Iryna and the younger sister of former Champion Kesti Kor'onen.
Kiana was born in 1006, the second child of Kalyna Kor'onen, who resided in Upper Old Iryna. Her grandmothers[Note] were the Kor'onen sisters, Kyveli and Korrine, whose political influence led to the construction of Iryna's upper platform and the creation of districts such as Upper Old Iryna. As a child, Kiana was an accomplished mage and dedicated student, although was not seen as equal to her older sister Kesti, whose magical talents eventually earned her the title of Champion. Little else is known about Kiana's personal life or future aspirations.
The circumstances surrounding the abrupt disappearance of Kesti Kor'onen came as a shock to the entire city of Iryna[1], but especially to Kesti's close family. Kalyna Kor'onen fully accepted Reiner's account of the events[2], denouncing her eldest daughter for being a traitor to Iryna and the Kor'onen family. Kiana, however, remained suspicious of Reiner's actions and maintained her belief in her sister's innocence. Without her mother's knowledge, Kiana cooperated with anonymous whistleblowers working with Iryna PD Inspector Neeka in her investigation of Reiner's criminal activity.[3] When this investigation led to Reiner's arrest by Oxanan authorities,[4] Kiana volunteered to appear in his trial as a character witness. Having spent a considerable amount of time at the Governor's Mansion with Kesti during her time as Champion, Kiana had become acquainted with Reiner on a personal level, and felt strongly that she could best honor her sister's memory by helping bring Reiner to justice.[5] However, because Kiana was still a minor, Kalyna Kor'onen accompanied her daughter to the trial. Kalyna continually interrupted and contradicted Kiana's testimony, before eventually being asked to leave the courthouse or face being charged with contempt of court.[6] It was noted that Kiana remained remarkably composed and clear in her testimony, despite her mother's behavior. Kiana's testimony was cited by the presiding judges as a major component in their assessment of Reiner's motivations during his time as Governor.[7]

When Kalyna Kor'onen returned to Iryna after the conclusion of Reiner's trial in Oxana, Kiana Kor'onen was not with her. Kalyna refused to explain Kiana's absence; her only public statement on the matter was that Kiana had "betrayed me, just like her sister"[8]. She expressed hope that one or both of her daughters would "come to their senses" and rejoin the Upper Old Iryna community. Kiana's whereabouts are still unknown as of Day 1 of Month 1, 1021, although she has not been officially declared a missing person by the Upper Old Iryna District Court.
