Iryna General is Iryna's public hospital, located in the Hospital Square district. It is one of the city's largest employers as well as its primary healthcare institution. Following the construction of Hospital Square in the early 900s, the vast majority of healthcare providers relocated to Iryna General, so that they could more easily consolidate resources and coordinate care. However, local clinics and pharmacies can still be found in other districts. Private providers also operate in districts like Upper Old Iryna and Mythril Mile, catering to a wealthy clientele who value exclusive access to the most prestigious physicians. Iryna General is primarily an outpatient facility; restorative magic can quickly remedy most acute illnesses, injuries, and disruptive magical effects. Patients with chronic conditions and/or who require more intensive treatment are housed in the hospital for around-the-clock care. The building also contains other medical facilities, including research laboratories and a morgue. Patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries that would make it dangerous to transport them to the hospital are treated by EMS, with Iryna General only becoming involved once the patient is conscious and ambulatory. The entire hospital is contained in a single skyscraper; at 25 stories, it is Iryna's tallest building, clearly identifiable on its skyline. There is no fee for any service offered within Iryna General - consultations, procedures, and medications are equally accessible to all Irynians, as well as non-residents visiting the city.
