Aequor Arcanus

The Aequor Arcanus, or simply the Aequor, is the name used by the people of the Corvidan Archipelago to refer to their planet, the ocean that dominates its surface, and the entire world as a conceptual entity. Regions of the Aequor are defined by maritime features such as currents and seafloor mountain ranges, breaking up the planet into distinct climate zones. The variation between different climates is not particularly pronounced, with global temperatures that range between -5°C (20°F) in midwinter and 40°C (105°F) in midsummer. Polar and glacial ice are not present in any region of Aequor Arcanus, with snow found solely in high-altitude mountainous areas, which are themselves rare. The Aequor is dotted with archipelagos and isolated islands, populated by sentient peoples over the course of millenia. Seafarers exclusively travel along well-established sea lanes, with open ocean exploration considered incredibly dangerous due to unpredictable storms and unstable magical effects. Underwater settlements are restricted to neritic zones and insular shelves.

The Aequor Arcanus exists as the physical anchor of a larger planar system, and is also referred to as the physical plane in the field of arcane theory. The other planes in this system can only be accessed from the physical plane through magical means, but their presence affects the arcane energy field within the physical plane. Certain subspecies of Corvidans exhibit physical traits that are said to originate from extraplanar realms, but the exact connection between planarfolk and the wider planar system is not fully understood.
