The Inquirer is the most trusted and widely-distributed journalistic publication in Iryna, reporting on breaking news 24 hours a day on a local, city-wide, and Archipelago-wide level. The Inquirer is an independent news organization which prides itself on its strict quality standards. Its reporters interview primary sources whenever possible, publish only information they can directly verify, and restrict their reporting to urgent matters so that readers are not overwhelmed by unnecessary information. The Inquirer is one of many news publications in the city, but most of its competitors take a far less principled approach to their own reporting. These gossip mags publish anything that will attract an audience, regardless of ethics or truth. They typically focus on the private lives of famous Irynians, with some gossip mag reporters becoming infamous themselves for their opinions and writing styles. Inquirer reporters, by contrast, do not publish under their own names and avoid all personal bias in their reporting. Each district has its own dedicated reporters in addition to senior reporters that handle city-wide coverage. The Inquirer self-publishes a paper daily edition which is posted on local notice-boards, but has also found success on the IrynaNet, with continual updates and live broadcasts that can be accessed by SmartStone users.
