About This Site

I've been messing around in HTML for a long time. The first site I remember making was for my very first webcomic, back in 2011. I was using WordPress at the time, getting my programmer dad's help with code. I think I had at least one site earlier, but I don't have clear memories of... a lot of things, honestly.

The early 2010s was when the internet was first transitioning towards social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. I slowly used them more and more, especially Tumblr, eventually abandoning my personal site in 2018. Still, I've never been a very social person online, and I never felt like any of those platforms was a great way to showcase my work. Even art-specific sites like DeviantArt didn't really appeal to me, especially not for webcomics. I posted my comics to Webtoons, because it was the platform with the widest readership, but the infinite-scroll format was never a great fit for my work.

Outside of comics, every couple of years, I would feel compelled to make a proper portfolio like a "real artist" should have. But whether I tried to build it on Tumblr or a website building service like Wix, it never came out exactly how I wanted, and I inevitably took down the site. I wanted the site itself to reflect my artistic sensibilities, not just serve as a collection of PNGs. Still, having no online presence at all never felt right either. I love my work and part of that love is sharing it with others. I just wanted to do it on my terms. (Also, hosting fees are expensive. I was very happy to avoid them if I could.)

In 2025, I finally made the leap to Neocities, where I could make my own site, just like the old days. Since then, I've found re-learning HTML to be a surprisingly fun creative outlet. I started out relying heavily on templates, but as I developed a clearer sense of how I wanted my site to look, I decided that the only way to achieve that vision was to create everything from scratch. This site isn't as flashy, aesthetic, or "webcore" as some others on Neocities, but it looks exactly how I want it to. (No shade to the maximalists out there, I love your creativity, but animated GIFs and bright colors give me eyestrain.)

So that's how this site came to be! It's gone through several major overhauls, and will likely go through more as my needs change. Enjoy your stay!
